The Hershberger Family
Richmond, Virginia
Kevin, Kathryn, and Carson -- what a trio! I always love a good alliteration, especially when it comes to family names. These three were so fun to work with. Even Carson’s favorite dog toy, which he proudly told me is named, “favorite dog,” joined us for the family portraits!
Kevin suggested an early morning session at his home because they live across the street from a big pumpkin patch that has a gorgeous sunrise view. I was a little nervous at first because I had never seen the location before, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. But he was so right, and the glow was just perfect! One thing I loved about photographing in the field was that frost on the ground hinted at the inevitable winter that will arrive soon, but the red and yellow colored trees and orange pumpkins scattered on the ground still kept a touch of fall in their photos. The temperature was quite cold, so we made our way back to their home to take some photos in their own yard, which was also so beautiful. The sun was perfectly peeking through the trees!
Not only are Kevin and Kathryn great parents to their adorable son, they are also super accomplished in their careers. Kevin is a highly esteemed history and military filmmaker, and Kathryn is a middle school history teacher and author. I have to be honest, I was intimated to take on such impressive clients since I’m so new to my own business, but the two of them made me feel so welcomed and at ease amongst them.
Kevin and Kathryn, I had so much fun with you and Carson! Thank you for inviting me out to your home for this session and for braving the cold with me. It was an honor to work with you all!
