VCU Senior Joel DeVaughn

Joel has a quiet yet strong presence. He is sophisticated, eloquent, intelligent, and talented. He has plans to move far away from home, where he’ll have more opportunities to grow in his acting career, continue his education to get his MFA, and truly learn how to live life on his own terms. Joel is excited for this new stage of life where his peers will become his colleagues, and they will get to experience working together in the real world rather than a classroom setting. Wherever he ends up, I know he will do amazing things, meet amazing people, and inspire so many!

I’ve really enjoyed to know Joel through my Campus Reps team this year. He brought a calming energy to the group, which was just what we needed when mixed with a a group of three other big personalities! He is a strong leader and an inspiration to all those he meets. His session inside the James Branch Cabell Library was so unique. Most seniors want their photos all around campus, but I loved that Joel wanted something different and special to him. He spent a lot of time here studying and utilizing all the amazing resources available for VCU students!

Joel, thank you for being a great Campus Rep and for being such a kind soul. I’m so excited to see where life takes you after graduation. I know you will accomplish so much! I hope to see you in one of your shows some day!
