Top 4 Hidden Gem Photo Spots in Gainesville, Florida
Best of Gainesville, FL
Gainesville, Florida is most famously known for being home to the University of Florida, but is also a hub for arts, culture, and history. Living in the Gator Nation has a lot of cool perks, like cheering on the Gators football team in the fall, being surrounded by inspiring students and professionals wherever we go, and having access to some pretty cool outdoor activities. The UF campus is beautiful, and the photo ops are endless. There are also some great hidden gems throughout the area that make beautiful backdrops for sessions — here are 4 of my favorites!
1. The Historic Thomas Center
The Thomas Center is a community space for weddings, conferences, special events, and art exhibits. While I don’t normally venture inside, the gardens are always well-maintained, making it perfect for photos. And I love the way the sun filters through the trees at sunset!
2. San Felasco Hammock Preserve Park
San Felasco’s North Trailhead is the perfect place if you love a big open field! While I usually love sunrise sessions, the light here is gorgeous during the hour before sunset, making for such dreamy photos!
3. Depot Park
Depot Park was newly renovated a few years ago, and the space is a hub for a wide range of activities, such as walking and biking, having a picnic, playing on the playground, hosting events. I love the big layout of the park and that you can find some great lighting and unique backdrops all over for photos!
4. Tioga Town Center
Tioga is a growing development that mixes small town charm with urban life. Apartments and single family homes surround the main shopping, dining, business, and event area, making it easy for pedestrians to stroll along the streets. My kids love going to the little playground they have and seeing the turtles there! Tioga is another spot where the light filters beautifully through the big trees along the streets.
